A fire alarm system is an electronic safety system that detects a fire early, warns the people inside the building and notifies the right people. Smoke and heat detectors, manual call points, sirens and the fire panel are its basic parts.
In conventional systems detectors are monitored in zones; in addressable systems each device is defined individually on the panel and you can see directly where an incident started. In large buildings an addressable system shortens maintenance and response time.
When designed together with emergency public address and evacuation systems, building users are guided correctly during a fire. Periodic testing and maintenance are necessary for the system to work reliably.
